Alternative Energy Program (B5-1)

The program comprises of advanced energy technology: such as Fuel Cell (SOFC/PEMFC), Hydrogen Reform Unit, Wind Turbine, Advanced Battery and bioenergy technology: such as Biodiesel, Ethanol, BTL (Synthetic Diesel from Biomass), Bio-oil from Biomass/Used Tyre/Plastic Waste, Biogas from Industrial waste and Standardization and Upgrading of Biofuel Quality, Agricultural & Automotive.

Scope of Work

The program thrives to achieve processing and relevance technology relating to advanced energy and biofuel appropriated to the country’s biomass. The program will provide modern technology suitable for Thailand business structure as well as current and accurate technical resource on alternative energy from around the world.

Key Research and Development

The Alternative Energy Program will focus on biofuel production from energy crop and ethanol, which will lead to biofuel production unit in different levels, such as BTL, GTL and fast Pyrolysis. The energy technology for medium to long term power plant will target at energy from fuel cell (SOFC/PEMFC), Biomass to CHP and wind energy by using wind turbine. The research comprises of two groups;

1. Advanced energy research and development including research programs in Fuel Cell (SOFC/PEMFC), wind energy and advanced battery;

2. Bioenergy research and development comprising research programs in energy crop, biodiesel, ethanol, biogas from Industrial waste, Biomass CHP and BTL (Synthetic Diesel from Biomass).
