Activity / Role / Core Technology

          The combination of an increasingly aging population and substantial health problems caused by traffic accidents and various diseases is now strikingly raising the demands for biomaterials and medical devices for the treatment and rehabilitation of the damaged bodies. The Biomedical Engineering Research Unit has perceived these needs and growths; hence, R&D activities in the fields of biomaterials and medical devices for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the elderly, the patient, the injured and the disabled have been progressively conducted in our research unit. We aim to develop medical prototypes that suitably fit patients’ needs and anatomy. The benefits of the established technologies ultimately transferred to private/public sectors fall not only on the partial substitution of imported biomaterials/medical devices with newly locally produced products, but the improved quality of patients’ lives at all stages: prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
