Dr.Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, MTEC Executive Director, presided over an opening ceremony of the 9th Robot Design Contest 2016 (RDC) final round. Co-organized by MTEC, Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, Prince of Songkla University, and Suranaree University and Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the event took place on July 25, 2016 at Queen Sirikit National Covention Center. RDC was held as a satellite event under the International on Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology: i-CREATe.
The goal of RDC is to encourage Thai youths to develop their skills and talent on designing and developing robot mechanics and to search for local representatives to join the IDC Robocon 2016. The contestants whose robot achieve the assigned tasks best will be declared winners.
The event was concluded with the award presentation to winners by Ms. Siriwan Tantawechkij, MTEC’s Deputy Executive Director. The winners will represent Thailand in the IDC Robocon 2016 in August. This year, Thailand is honoured to host the IDC. The IDC Robocon provides an opportunity for the students to demonstrate how they can put their engineering skills to good use. The competition could be an amazing start to their engineering careers.
