It has been about 2 years since Thailand and all <\/span><\/font>countries around the world have been facing the continued <\/span>spread of COVID-19. The disease has created widespread <\/span>impacts, so a large number of people have to adopt the <\/span>New Normal for their lifestyles and work practices, such as <\/span>utilizing information technology (IT) more frequently with their <\/span>work and changing their consumption behaviors. As for the <\/span>manufacturing and service sectors, it is important that they <\/span>have to adapt their business plans. The businesses that faced <\/span>negative impacts must reconsider their production plans and <\/span>supply chain management by taking into account the risk of <\/span>using raw materials from a single source. Meanwhile, certain <\/span>businesses may experience significant increase in demand, <\/span>especially products related to health care and epidemic <\/span>prevention. <\/span><\/p>\n

As MTEC is an R&D center in materials technology, <\/span>its related design and manufacturing works are affected by the <\/span>COVID-19 as well. Therefore, the organization has adjusted its research plan to create inventions to cope with the <\/span>COVID-19 disease, for examples, the \u2018PETE\u2019 Patient Isolation <\/span>and Transportation Chamber, the remote-controlled delivery <\/span>cart \u2018Aree\u2019, and the RT-Wheelchair, as well as adapted its <\/span>work styles in order to deliver the research results to the <\/span>target users effectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

At present, the spread of the COVID-19 has made <\/span>health care and pandemic prevention as the country\u2019s first <\/span>priority. This response has resulted in an increase in the <\/span>use of single-use products and, inevitably, a large amount <\/span>of wastes. At the same time, the trend in environmental <\/span>sustainability is still strong as well as the demand for ever <\/span>more efficient waste management is needed. In foreign <\/span>countries, environmental measures are being proposed since <\/span>they will be more crucial when the pandemic crisis subsides. <\/span>MTEC, therefore, has followed closely the establishment of <\/span>the standards and measures on the environmental issues, <\/span>namely, the EU Green Deal, ISO 59020 \u201cMeasuring and <\/span>assessing circularity\u201d and planed for the necessary steps to <\/span>support Thai entrepreneurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from the environmental issues, MTEC has <\/span>planned to develop research works that meet the <\/span>adaptation of the manufacturing and service sectors, as well <\/span>as prepared for various new lifestyles conforming to the BCG <\/span>(Bio-Circular-Green) Economy Model, such as boosting the <\/span>productivity with automatic system, using additive <\/span>manufacturing to increase the flexibility of production <\/span>and inventory management, creating value-added from <\/span>agricultural and industrial wastes, as well as giving importance <\/span>to the elderly care. All these actions have been done through <\/span>focusing on working with the manufacturers to deliver the <\/span>works useful to the target groups and deliver outputs in <\/span>various forms to create appreciable socio-economic impacts <\/span>for the country.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
