The Innovative Rubber Manufacturing Research\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Group has been registered as Standards Developing\u00a0<\/span>Organizations (SDOs) in the advanced category, section\u00a0<\/span>29: Rubber and rubber products, with the Thai Industrial\u00a0<\/span>Standards Institute (TISI), which became effective on July 1,\u00a0<\/span>2020. The Innovative Rubber Manufacturing Research Group,\u00a0<\/span>therefore, is authorized to create a draft standard related\u00a0<\/span>to rubber and rubber products to propose to the Thai\u00a0<\/span>Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) to consider promulgating it\u00a0<\/span>as an industrial product standard of the country (TIS). Some\u00a0<\/span>international standards (ISO) have also been developed and\u00a0<\/span>amended by this research group.<\/span><\/p>

During the Fiscal Year 2021, noted MTEC works that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>have been promulgated as standards are as follows:<\/span><\/p>

  • Thai Industrial Standards (TIS 2666-2563)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>of Rubber plucking fingers for poultry<\/strong>
    <\/span><\/span>Rubber plucking fingers for poultry are a key\u00a0<\/span>component of both circular and automatic plucker machines\u00a0<\/span>that pluck feathers from the poultry, such as chickens, ducks,\u00a0<\/span>and turkeys, as part of poultry processing. This standard\u00a0<\/span>specifies the physical characteristics and safety requirements\u00a0<\/span>of rubber plucking fingers for poultry in order to assure users\u00a0<\/span>of product quality.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    \u2022 TIS 3052-2563 of Rubber railway level crossing panel
    <\/strong><\/span>Most railway level crossing panels in Thailand\u00a0<\/span><\/span>are made of concrete but in foreign countries rubber is a\u00a0<\/span>preferred material. This is because rubber products will\u00a0<\/span>help distribute stress to the sleepers, thus reducing shock,\u00a0<\/span>vibration and sound and allowing cars to pass faster without\u00a0<\/span>slowing down. Currently, the State Railway of Thailand has\u00a0<\/span>been employing the rubber railway level crossing panels in\u00a0<\/span>some areas and domestic manufacturers are interested in\u00a0<\/span>its production. Since there has been no standards for the\u00a0<\/span>technical specification of the rubber railway level crossing\u00a0<\/span>panels, an establishment of this standard will, therefore,\u00a0<\/span>ensure product acceptance.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    \u2022 <\/b>ISO 506:2020 Rubber latex, natural, concentrate – Determination of volatile fatty acid number
    <\/b><\/span><\/span>Volatile fatty acid number (VFA Number) is a very important\u00a0<\/span><\/span>index that indicate the quality of the latex. The test method is based\u00a0<\/span>on the coagulation of the latex with ammonium sulfate solution\u00a0<\/span>and then the separation of serum into acid with sulfuric acid.\u00a0<\/span>The resulting serum is then distilled and used as substrate for the\u00a0<\/span>volatile acid from the distillation. The volatile fatty acid content was\u00a0<\/span>then titrated with barium hydroxide solution. Although the standard test\u00a0<\/span>methods are widely used around the world, there are certain technical\u00a0<\/span>flaws need to be solved.     \u2022\u00a0<\/b>TIS 2623 Electrical power insulators Part 1 Test methods<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>

    The Ceramic and Glass Research Team of Ceramics\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and Construction Materials Research Group has participated\u00a0<\/span>in preparing the draft standard of the Electrical power\u00a0<\/span>insulators Part 1 Test methods, which is the standard that\u00a0<\/span>defines the test methods for the specific characteristics of\u00a0<\/span>insulators. The test method for a given electrical insulator\u00a0<\/span>is unique as specified by its associated standard so as to\u00a0<\/span>attain efficient, suitable and safe products for use in the\u00a0<\/span>country\u2019s power distribution system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    MTEC engagement and commenting in\u00a0<\/span>the standards establishment process involves the\u00a0<\/span>cooperation between the government and private\u00a0<\/span>sectors.
