The design of these beds does not yield comfortability for bodily movement and it causes a feeling of being in a hospital. Furthermore, the price is quite expensive because these beds are imported products.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Aviation safety is very important since it involves\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">a number of people, such as passengers, airport users, and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">airport staff and affects the credibility of all aviation-related\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">organization. The Airports of Thailand Public Co., LTD.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">(AOT) is well aware of this issue, thus developing a policy\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">and implementing various measures in order to prevent\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">aviation accidents and incidents and reduce the risk of such\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">occurrences in the airport.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Accordingly, AOT has commissioned a team of\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">researchers from the National Metal and Materials\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">Technology Center (MTEC) to study the safety effects of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">Ground Run-up Enclosures (GRE) which is located in the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">direction of jet blast generated from the engine run-ups.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">This location is vulnerable and could possibly cause\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">accidents during the aircrafts\u2019 landing and take off if the GRE\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">is in operation. Therefore, AOT together with its community\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">representatives and related government organizations\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">had resolved that the effects of the GRE must be studied\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">extensively so that the conditions of operating the GRE with\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">acceptable safety risks could be identified and formally\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">accepted by all stakeholders.<\/span><\/p><h2>Research objectives<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Study the effects of Ground Run-up Enclosures\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">(GRE) on aviation operations in order to identify appropriate\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">operating conditions and develop practical safety guidelines.<\/span><\/p><h2>What does the research team do?<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; color: #333333;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">1. Application of various relevant engineering\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">fields in designing anemometers to measure the wind\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">speed and wind direction.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">2. Application of statistics with computer\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">programing in studying a 6-year data set of the wind\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">speeds and directions at the GRE.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">3. Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">(CFD) in simulating the airflow of the jet engines and its\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">surrounding environment (especially, the natural wind\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">speeds) at the GRE under two conditions, i.e. the engine\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">run-ups are in operation and
