During the COVID-19 pandemic, the patient isolation chamber is crucial as it helps reduce the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>infection, numbers of medical personnel while\u00a0<\/span>transferring patients, and time, as well as protect their safety while taking good care of the patients. Thailand also suffered from the expensive cost of the imported medical equipment, especially the patient isolation chamber. However, this device still possesses a number of limitations, for examples, it can not be put into an X-ray machine and requires cleaning every time after use.<\/span><\/p>

MTEC research team, therefore, has developed\u00a0<\/span><\/span>PETE (Patient Isolation and Transportation\u00a0<\/span>Chamber), a device for transferring patients with\u00a0<\/span>respiratory tract problems. The PETE consists of 2 main parts; the first one is a clear plastic patient isolator that fits the patients\u2019 body, and the second part is\u00a0<\/span>a negative pressure unit designed to control the air circulation inside the chamber when the patient is placed inside, and the zipper is closed. The PETE unit has an automatic pressure adjustment system to allow\u00a0<\/span>the outside air to flow into the chamber, so that\u00a0<\/span>the patient can breathe normally. A HEPA Filter\u00a0<\/span>personnel use the PETE to move patients from place to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>place, it will not only help limit the spread of infection\u00a0<\/span>but also reduce the risk towards the medical personnel\u00a0<\/span>and other people in the hospital.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Therefore, PETE developed by MTEC is an\u00a0<\/span>innovative device that will suit the manufacturers to\u00a0<\/span>develop and produce local medical devices. At present,\u00a0<\/span>MTEC had delivered 26 sets of PETE to the\u00a0<\/span>various institutions like Faculty of Medicine Vajira\u00a0<\/span>Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University, Erawan Field\u00a0<\/span>Hospital 2 of Wetchakarunrasm Hospital, Ruamnamjai\u00a0<\/span>(Klongtoey) Foundation, Vibhavadi Hospital, and Saint\u00a0<\/span>Mary\u2019s Hospital to support the medical personnel\u00a0<\/span>during the relocation of COVID-19 patients to various\u00a0<\/span>places. At present, PETE is a Thai research result\u00a0<\/span>that passed the ISO 14644 and in the process of\u00a0<\/span>establishing the IEC 60601-1, and Suprera Innovation\u00a0<\/span>Co., Ltd. is recently a licensee for the technology\u00a0<\/span>transfer of PETE\u2019s production and distribution.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
