On January 29, 2020 at the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand, Muak Lek, Saraburi
The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) had participated in the National Dairy Festival 2020, which is hosted by the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand during January 29-February 9, 2020 under the concept of “Love Milk, Love Farm”.
In this event, two research results had been presented, namely
- Low Toxic Cow Rubber Mats
More than 90% of the dairy farms in Thailand raise their cows within the stables with its floor built with cement which might be slippery when wet, thus causing injuries to cows. Therefore, the use of the cow rubber mats to cover the cement floor can help reduce the chance of injuries. However, this practice is not very popular in Thailand due to its cost. Moreover, the cow rubber mats might be harmful to the environment as there are chemicals used in the production process. Therefore, the development of the low-toxic cow rubber mats is needed. This product will not only create the positive effect on the health of the cows and consumers, but also help reduce the chemicals inside the rubber, as well as increase the rubber consumption in Thailand.
Biodegradable bags is the research result from the collaboration between MTEC, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and the private companies in the development of a bio-plastic formula from a tapioca starch, which is the country’s agricultural product. These bags were made from biodegradable materials. The research team has upscaled their research to a pilot scale and found that the products can be produced by the existing blow molding machines in Thailand.
