STUDY ON THE PROPERTIES OF ELASTOMER MIXED WITH MODIFIED STARCH

Background

One of the most important starch in Thailand is cassava starch because the country ranks the 1st in the world for exporting cassava products. However, a low price crisis occurs from time to time. Finding novel applications to use the starch is one way to alleviate the problem. In this work, we use modified starch as filler for rubber compounds. However, the difference in the polar properties of starch and rubber results in an incompatibility between both materials. To remedy this technical issue, the starch particles are treated by different methods to increase their compatibility with the rubber matrix.
