BITEC, Bangna, Bangkok<\/strong> \u2014The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)<\/strong>, spearheaded by its National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC)<\/strong>, joined forces with the National Innovation Agency (NIA)<\/strong> and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Medical Device Manufacturers Industry Club<\/strong> to host the Thailand Pavilion<\/strong> at MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2025<\/strong>. This collaborative effort is designed to bolster Thailand\u2019s standing as a regional hub for medical and healthcare innovation.\u00a0 The event serves as a platform to foster global knowledge exchange and collaboration, attracting device manufacturers and innovators from over 40 countries.<\/span><\/p>

Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin<\/strong>, Director of MTEC, NSTDA, asserted, \u201cThailand continues to grapple with heavy reliance on imported medical equipment. MTEC, NSTDA, together with private sector partners, are dedicated to propelling deep-tech research and development in materials and medical devices to forge a strong foundation for the industry. Particularly in the field of medical devices, MTEC possesses a solid base of knowledge and research outcomes ready for technology transfer. Several innovations have already been commercialized \u2014 including biomaterials, implantable devices, diagnostic technologies<\/strong>, and rehabilitative medicine solutions<\/strong>. Examples include bone graft substitutes<\/strong>, bone fixation plates<\/strong>, and breast biopsy training models for cancer screening<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cAt Medical Fair Thailand 2025<\/strong>, MTEC, NSTDA also organized a seminar titled \u2018Driving Thai MED Tech Forward\u2019<\/strong> to showcase the potential and direction of elevating Thailand\u2019s medical device industry to meet international standards. Key highlights include the launch of the Biocompatibility Screening Test (ISO 10993)<\/strong>, which serves as an initial verification of the biological compatibility of medical devices, and the announcement of an Open Call<\/strong> inviting entrepreneurs to collaborate on developing Thai medical devices that achieve Partial<\/strong> to Full CSDT<\/strong> compliance in accordance with global standards. In addition, the event introduced the NSTDA MEDDrive Platform<\/strong>, a vital mechanism that bridges research and real-world applications. This will enable Thai entrepreneurs to achieve international certification with confidence while expanding their access to both domestic and international markets. I firmly believe that the Thailand Pavilion<\/strong> will serve as a stage to demonstrate Thailand\u2019s medical innovation capabilities and mark the beginning of a collaborative network that will drive the country\u2019s medical device industry toward long-term sustainability.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Sura-at Supachatturat<\/strong>, Deputy Executive Director for Innovation Financing, National Innovation Agency (Public Organization)<\/strong>, declared, \u201cThe National Innovation Agency (NIA)<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI)<\/strong> and the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (Public Organization)<\/strong>, targets reducing the import value of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services by 1.5 billion baht by 2026<\/strong>. This will be driven through support for entrepreneurs in market validation<\/strong> and market expansion<\/strong>, leveraged via the Yothi Medical Innovation District (YMID)<\/strong> and Srinakharinwirot Medical Innovation District (SMID)<\/strong> networks.<\/span><\/p>

In addition, NIA has set a strategic vision to position Thailand as a Global Wellness Hub<\/strong>, with a focus on exporting homegrown technologies, promoting business matching, and expanding into international markets. These efforts are intended to generate income, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the country\u2019s healthcare system. The initiative also emphasizes the importance of international collaboration<\/strong>, including the export of Thai technologies and innovations to global markets, and the development of national capacity to produce technologies that meet global demands. MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2025<\/strong> featured over 1,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries<\/strong>, along with 20 national and international pavilions<\/strong> showcasing a diverse range of technologies, including hospital and pharmaceutical innovations, medical supplies, rehabilitative medicine, and digital health solutions. The event also hosted specialized seminars and workshops<\/strong> that highlighted cutting-edge innovations and emerging trends in the healthcare industry.
