On December 17, 2025<\/strong>, at the Sirindhorn Science Home Auditorium in Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), through the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), convened the \u201cMTEC Annual CiP Regulations Update 2025\u201d seminar. Presented in a hybrid format via WebEx, the event was attended by a significant number of executives, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>

The objective of this seminar was to disseminate knowledge and provide updates on evolving and stringent global regulations regarding Chemical in Products (CiP). Central topics included the group-based control of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), the listing of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and the regulation of microplastics.\u00a0 Furthermore, the session addressed revisions to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) frameworks, alongside the introduction of new hazard classes under CLP regulations. The seminar also examined new European Union environmental legislation, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and the draft End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation (ELV Regulation), which significantly impact the global manufacturing landscape.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The seminar featured insights from Dr. Nudjarin Ramungul, Expert within the Environment Research Group (ENV) at MTEC, and Dr. Witchuda Daud, Researcher with the Plastic Technology Team (PLTT) of the Advanced Polymer Technology Research Group (APT). The presenters shared their expertise on the fundamental aspects of CiP regulations, forthcoming critical issues for 2025, and emerging trends linking CiP regulations to the circular economy. Additionally, the session provide updates on new requirements affecting product design, manufacturing, and comprehensive lifecycle management.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Furthermore, participants also gained insights into relevant standards, methodologies, and analytical testing technologies for verifying regulatory compliance from distinguished experts, including Ms. Janjira Viwatsumritkul of DKSH Technology Limited, Mr. Weera Suanthaisong of the Department of Science Service, Ms. Phawada Uppathana of SGS (Thailand) Limited, and Ms. Nattakrita Thongdee of T\u00dcV Rheinland Thailand.<\/span><\/p>

Discussion also encompassed perspectives on the \u2018Circular by Design\u2019 concept, the preparation of product data via a Digital Product Passport (DPP), and the interpretation of regional regulatory guidelines for PFAS substances.
