July 9, 2026, Asia Climate Summit 2026, <\/strong>Hong Kong Special Administrative Region \u2014 The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), represented by Dr. Nongnuch Poolsawad<\/a>, Director of the Technology and Informatics Institute for Sustainability (TIIS), acting on behalf of the NSTDA Executive Director, and the Asia Carbon Institute (ACI)<\/a>, represented by Mr. John Lo<\/a>, Chairman and Founder of ACI, signed a Joint Implementation Accord. The agreement aims to jointly develop carbon credit methodologies and promote interoperability among voluntary carbon market standards throughout the region.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Building on the earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the agreement advances their collaboration into a practical implementation stage. It aims to develop aligned carbon crediting methodologies that can be integrated into both organizations\u2019 framework. This collaboration reflects MTEC\u2019s role, as a research center under NSTDA, \u00a0in applying science, technology, and innovation expertise to support the development of Thailand\u2019s climate-change mechanisms\u2014particularly carbon credit methodologies that align with international standards, can be applied across different frameworks, and facilitate regional carbon market integration. These efforts will help broaden access to climate finance, support greenhouse gas emissions reductions, and strengthen Thailand\u2019s competitiveness in the low-carbon economy.<\/span><\/p>

The partnership between NSTDA and ACI signifies a significant milestone in establishing a collaborative network among research institutions, standards organizations, and related sectors.
