Session: Wood and Bamboo Engineering for Circular Industries: Transforming Local Resources into Low-Carbon Materials
Date: Friday 13 November 2026
Time: 09:00 – 12:00
Venue: Jupiter 6 – IMPACT Challenger, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani
Key Concept and Objective The seminar and exhibition present concepts for developing engineered wood and bamboo materials to upgrade local bio-resources into low-carbon materials for modern industries. This initiative spans research on processing, material modification, quality control, and product design, extending through to commercial application within a circular economy framework.
The event highlights the role of the Wood Engineering for Sustainability Research Team (WEST) at the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) as a central technology hub. WEST of MTEC connects local resources, manufacturing processes, product standards, and industrial markets. Featured case studies include:
- Bamboo Laminate and Bamboo Scrimber
- Wood and bamboo treatment and modification
- Value-added upcycling of production waste, such as biochar and composite materials
Event Structure The event is divided into two primary parts:
- Seminars and Panel Discussions: Focus on sharing technology directions, utilization opportunities, and collaborative business models with local businesses.
- Research and Product Exhibitions: Showcase the transformation of raw wood and bamboo into high-value engineered materials and manufacturing systems aligned with Net Zero and Circular Industries goals.
Collaboration and Industrial Impact The event serves as a meeting ground for researchers, entrepreneurs, machinery developers, material users, and supporting agencies. It aims to drive partnerships through joint research, pilot testing, technology transfer, and commercial investment in Thailand’s bio-based materials sector.
