Dr. Julapong Taweesri, Strategic Advisor to the Minister of Industry and a member of the MTEC Board, visited Cap Global Aluminium Co., Ltd. alongside officials from the Department of Industrial Works, led by Mr. Ekabut Utpaphong. They were joined by representatives from Chulalongkorn University, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Environmental Management Industry Club, and the Thailand Institute of Water and Environmental Sustainability.
The purpose of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities for the project titled ‘Approaches for the Conditioning and Utilization of Aluminium Dross and Its Transition to Sustainable End-of-Waste Status.’ CAP Global Aluminium Co., Ltd. is considered a key stakeholder in this effort, playing a significant role in advancing the initiative.

The group also visited research laboratories at MTEC and NANOTEC that support research on waste utilization and the End-of-Waste (EoW) concept. Key highlights included MTEC’s pilot-scale aluminum dross conditioning process, the spray drying technique used to produce detergent powder from bio-based sodium silicate, the laboratory for ceramic catalysts and carbon materials, and NANOTEC’s environmental nanotechnology laboratory.

NSTDA has entered into research and development agreements with the Department of Industrial Works and the Federation of Thai Industries to promote the conversion of industrial waste into new raw materials or products under the End-of-Waste (EoW) framework, in alignment with the Circular Economy approach. This initiative marks another significant step forward in collaborative efforts to bring the End-of-Waste concept to life.
