The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), led by Dr. Sarawut Lerspalungsanti, Deputy Executive Director of MTEC, together with researchers from the Well-living Design Research Team and the Novel Rubber Products Research Team, as well as representatives from the Industrial and Business Liaison Section and the Research and Innovation Strategy Division, participated in a collaborative meeting on research and innovation at the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health.
The meeting aimed to explore potential collaboration in applying innovations, technologies, digital platforms, and AI systems to support public healthcare services, particularly for the elderly, both at the community level and in health-related establishments. The discussion also focused on opportunities to further develop MTEC’s ready-to-use innovations and integrate them with local healthcare missions. Key discussion points included the feasibility of connecting health platforms and AI systems with the existing workflows of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) and community health agencies. The parties also agreed to further coordinate with the Division of Community Health and relevant IT working groups for technical discussions on data connectivity. In addition, they discussed the development of manuals and guidelines to support health-related establishments in systematically selecting appropriate technologies for elderly care.
The Department of Health Service Support also invited MTEC to showcase its products and innovations at the Medical & Wellness Expo, to be held from 8–10 July 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event will serve as an important platform for MTEC and its technology transfer partners to present research outputs, test market opportunities, and explore business matching with healthcare service providers, entrepreneurs, and relevant funding sources.
This collaboration marks an important step toward integrating technological expertise, health innovations, and public health service systems to promote the practical application of MTEC’s research outputs in health-related establishments and community settings. It is expected to contribute to improving the quality of life of older persons in Thailand and support the country’s sustainable transition toward an aging society.
