Rayong’s Governor implements ‘Magik Growth’ bags for durians, aiming to reduce chemical use while meeting export standards and promoting the province’s top-quality fruits under the BCG economic model

Mr. Piyachart Khraivanich Beerthun, Director of Area and Human Development (AHD), alongside Mr. Tripop Wongtrairat, Governor of Rayong Province, Ms. Salariwan Thapphawee, Deputy Governor of Rayong, Mr. Wichit Paphonngam, District Chief of Wang Chan, Ms. Waranuch See-daeng, Agriculture Officer of Rayong, Mr. Manop Posayanuwat, Agriculture Officer of Wang Chan District, Mr. Wichian Thongduang, Industry Officer of Rayong, and Mr. Keerivat Onprom, Public Relations Officer of Rayong, joined in the activity of wrapping 60-day-old durians with ‘Magik Growth’ bags, a technology developed by the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), NSTDA. The event was held at Mr. Charoon Pothong’s durian orchard in Ban Khao Hin Thaen, Wang Chan District, Rayong Province, covering an area of 5 Rai, under the project ‘Guaranteed by the Governor—Rayong’s Quality Durians,’ aimed to widely promote Rayong’s durians, building consumer confidence and attracting tourists with the message: ‘Good durians, delicious durians must be from Rayong.’

NSTDA Unveils Three Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Research Projects to Boost Mushroom and Cassava Production and Develop Rail System Standards for the Mekong Region

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), through the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), announced the launch of three projects funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund (LMCSF), supported by the People’s Republic of China. The initiative aims to disseminate information to all stakeholders and forge new partnerships to amplify project impact. These projects include the technology transfer and value addition of edible mushrooms, sustainable cassava production, and standards for high-speed rail products. The event was jointly launched by Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong, Director of NSTDA, and Mr. Ma Minggeng, Science and Technology Advisor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand. Researchers on the projects and stakeholders representing diverse sectors attended the event.

MTEC Collaborated with Industrial Partners Collaborated to launch “KHAMKOON,” a PMUC-funded Electric Tricycle Prototype.

The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), along with the Rail and Modern Transports Research Group (RMT), collaborated with Northeastern Electronics Technology Company Limited through the Northeastern Institute of Technology, to launch an innovative electric vehicle prototype called ‘Khamkoon.’ This initiative received research funding support from the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), aimed at enhancing the country’s industrial competitiveness and fostering economic and social impacts. ‘Khamkoon’ is a prime example of an invention addressing public transportation needs in urban areas.

MTEC collaborates with TU and OR in the R&D of luminescence substances to detect and measure ethanol content in fuel

The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), NSTDA, has conducted research and developed light-responsive organic materials for measuring ethanol levels in fuel under the collaboration of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Thammasat University (TU). All stakeholders have signed a memorandum of understanding with PTT Public Company Limited to jointly research and develop renewable energy technologies and innovations for sustainability under biotechnology, food technology, computer and electronics technology, metal and material technology, energy, and nanotechnology.

MTEC and JAMP Collaborated to Organize the 2024 chemSHERPA Workshop for Users in Thailand

The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), together with the Joint Article Management Promotion Consortium (JAMP), organized the 2024 chemSHERPA Workshop for Users in Thailand. This workshop aims to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of chemical management in products, accurate and reliable chemical data management, and the principles, mechanisms, and methods of using chemSHERPA tools developed by JAMP. These tools streamline information communication between trading partners in the production chain, boosting efficiency.

Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), together with Dr. Thitapha Smitinont, Executive Vice President of NSTDA, Dr. Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, Director of MTEC, Mr. Kornkrit Jurangkool, President of Summit R&D Center Co., Ltd., and Mr. Unarut Prarom, Director of Research and Product Development of Summit R&D Center Co., Ltd., had signed a collaboration agreement between NSTDA and Summit R&D Center Co., Ltd. in the research and development of automotive parts design and manufacturing technology.

Thailand Toray Science Foundation (TTSF) held the 30th award and grant for science and technology research presentation ceremony on March 8, 2024 at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok. National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) acting through National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) received a Science and Technology Award for institutions with outstanding contributions in science and technology, while the winner of the institution category is Metal Injection Moulding Laboratory, MTEC.

The event was attended by Mr. Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, and Mr. Wu Zhiwu, Minister-Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, along with representatives from MHESI and projects funded under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Fund for the fiscal year 2023.

MTEC’s Modern Railway and Transportation Technology Research Group was awarded funding for a project under the 2023 Mekong-Lancang Special Fund (MLCSF).
