Personnel Exchange Program with International Partners

The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) actively promotes international personnel exchange, offering valuable opportunities for both its research and support staff —as well as personnel from global partner organizations — to share expertise, strengthen skills, and build lasting networks of collaboration.
By encouraging work across diverse cultural and institutional contexts, the program fosters meaningful learning and fresh perspectives. It serves as a vital mechanism for advancing international research, generating mutual benefits for both countries.

Activity Format

The program provides opportunities for personnel from both MTEC and its international partners to engage in collaborative activities over a period of 3 to 12 months. Participants contribute to and benefit from a range of knowledge-sharing formats, including:
Collaborative Research: Co-developing a research project to generate new scientific insights
Skill Development: Receiving training in specialized tools, techniques, and emerging research approaches
Seminars & Workshops: Engaging with experts to exchange knowledge and explore current developments in relevant fields
Study Visits: Observing management systems, laboratory operations, and strategies for translating research into practical applications

Support from MTEC

Expected Outcomes

  1. For international personnel: MTEC may provide accommodation support for foreign staff working onsite, with logistical coordination facilitated by internal MTEC units.
  2. For MTEC personnel: All participants must adhere to NSTDA regulations governing education, training, study visits, research activities, and academic services, as outlined in the 2020 (B.E. 2563) directive.
  • Enhance international visibility and recognition of MTEC
  • Establish sustainable collaborative networks with global partners
  • Strengthen capacity building and foster the creation of high-quality, innovative research outcomes

Program for Supporting Senior Visiting Researchers

This program was established to create meaningful opportunities for highly experienced international researchers to contribute to MTEC’s research and technology development initiatives. Senior visiting researchers serve as advisors, providing strategic guidance and actively participating in projects to elevate research quality to international standards.

Beyond their advisory role, these experts play a pivotal part in building research capacity across all levels — supporting researchers, research assistants, students, and academic networks from institutions in Thailand and abroad.

Moreover, the program serves as a key driver of international collaboration, harnessing the expertise and global networks of senior researchers to enhance Thailand’s research and innovation capacities on the world stage.

Objectives of the Program

  • Support senior visiting researchers in providing strategic guidance to MTEC research projects, enhancing efficiency and elevating research quality
  • Strengthen the capacity of research teams in priority areas aligned with MTEC’s strategic goals, while cultivating high-caliber researchers capable of competing on the global stage
  • Promote the development of international research collaboration networks through the expertise and connections of senior visiting researchers
  • Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and research experience to researchers, research assistants, students, and institutional networks —both domestic and international
