MTEC, NSTDA, collaborates with Guangxi Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, P.R. China, to advance cooperation in knowledge exchange, research, and technological development to mitigate the impacts of environmental pollutant contamination

          (January 13, 2026), at MTEC Building, the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), through the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and Guangxi Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (GRAES) under Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi DEE), the People’s Republic of China, held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic and research cooperation. The signing was led by Associate Professor Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of MTEC, and Dr. Sun Yangzhao, Director of GRAES. The event was honored by the presence of Ms.Chen Danyu, Director of Division of Climate Change and Regional Cooperation. Also, attendees from both sides were Dr. Nudjarin Ramankul, Research Specialist, Environment Research Group, Dr. Pawadee Methacanon, Director of Advanced Polymer Technology Research Group (APT), Dr.Witchuda Daud, Senior Researcher, APT, as well as the executive teams and researchers from both organizations. This collaboration aims to advance knowledge development and research on technologies for managing environmental pollutant contamination, promote the exchange of research personnel to jointly enhance research capacity, and support Thailand’s transition toward a circular economy and sustainable development.

Associate Professor Toemsak Srikhirin stated, “Today’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony marks a significant step in strengthening concrete collaboration between the two organizations, reflecting their shared vision to enhance cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of advanced analytical methods and technologies for managing hazardous environmental pollutants, while fostering research networks and strengthening environmental cooperation between ASEAN and China.”

Ms. Chen Danyu remarked, “Thailand and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have long shared close geographical, social, and economic ties, leading to the continuous implementation of concrete collaborative projects and activities. At present, Guangxi places strong emphasis on policies addressing environmental pollution in soil, water, and air, in support of green city development.

Today’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing marks another important milestone, reflecting the commitment of both organizations to strengthen cooperation in knowledge exchange, research, and technological development to mitigate environmental pollution. The collaboration also focuses on enhancing research capacity through researcher exchanges and training activities, as well as building a strong and sustainable cooperation network for the future.”

Following the MoU signing ceremony, researchers from MTEC, representatives from the Department of Ecology and Environment, and environmental enterprises from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China held discussions and exchanged views on environmental technology cooperation. The discussions aimed to explore opportunities to further develop concrete collaborative activities in the future.
