MTEC Unites Researchers and Entrepreneurs to Elevate Thailand’s Rubber Industry

On November 20, 2024, at Asawin Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Assistance Program (ITAP), organized a hands-on workshop titled “Research and Innovation Forum.” Associate Professor Toemsak Srikhirin, Director of MTEC, welcomed attendees with an opening address, and Mr. Navaphong Sorachoti, Chairman of the Rubber Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries, gave the opening remarks.

This event served as a bridge between researchers and industry professionals, facilitating collaboration to solve challenges and foster collaborative innovation. Notable organizations such as the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association, the Thai Rubber Association, and the Thai Latex Association were key participants.

Essential topics were explored in a series of key panel discussions at the event,  including ‘Preparing for the Future and Pathways to Survival of Thailand’s Rubber Industry,’ ‘The Road to Net-Zero: Challenges and Opportunities in a Sustainable Rubber Industry,’ and ‘Future Rubber Technology Trends.’

Attracting representatives from more than 45 rubber-related companies, the forum saw significant interest in collaboration with MTEC. Tire, glove, hose, elastic rubber, and conveyor belt manufacturers, among others, expressed a strong desire to develop innovative solutions, signifying a collective commitment to advancing Thailand’s rubber industry.
