The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), hosted a seminar titled “Modern Manufacturing and i4.0 Technologies for Thai Electroplaters.”
Centered around the theme “The Power of 3 Allies: Partnership, Technology, and Funding for the Thai Electroplating Industry,” the event aimed to strengthen the competitiveness of Thai electroplating businesses. It fostered collaboration between public and private sectors and championed the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies to modernize manufacturing practices and drive sustainable growth.

Dr. Sarawut Lertpalangsanti, Deputy Executive Director of MTEC–NSTDA, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting MTEC’s pivotal role in advancing the industrial sector toward sustainability and global competitiveness. He underscored the importance of integrating cutting-edge technology, research, and innovation, bolstered by strong partnerships across public and private sectors, to drive meaningful transformation.

The seminar showcased a series of insightful presentations highlighting opportunities and support available from key government agencies. These included NSTDA—represented by the Technology and Innovation-Based Enterprise Development 4.0 (TICB), the Innovation and Technology Assistance Program (ITAP), and the Sustainable Manufacturing Center (SMC)—alongside the National Innovation Agency (NIA) and the Board of Investment (BOI). Attendees were also introduced to emerging technologies poised to transform the electroplating industry, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced automation systems.
The event spotlighted successful case studies from leading entrepreneurs and unveiled the “PlateMon” platform, a cutting-edge digital system for monitoring and controlling electroplating quality. By leveraging Machine Learning and Data Analytics, PlateMon enhances production precision and efficiency in the digital era. The seminar also featured business-matching sessions that connected stakeholders across the product development value chain, alongside expert consultations on accessing R&D and investment support. These engagements laid the groundwork for future quick-win research initiatives and strategic collaborations.

The seminar was organized through the joint efforts of prominent partners, including NSTDA, the Board of Investment (BOI), the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), the National Innovation Agency (NIA), the Thai Electroplating Industrial Network Association (TEPNET), the Metallurgy and Materials Science Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University, Nexus Impact Corporation Co., Ltd., Helmut Fischer (Thailand) Co., Ltd., TEPTO Co., Ltd., Manochi Industry Co., Ltd., and Alien Technology Co., Ltd. The event welcomed over 150 participants from more than 20 electroplating companies, fostering a dynamic network of collaboration aimed at advancing Thailand’s electroplating industry toward a resilient and sustainable digital future.

This seminar marked a transformative milestone in the effort to establish a robust ecosystem designed to empower entrepreneurs through integrated support in knowledge, technology, and funding. With a long-term vision of positioning Thailand as a leading regional hub for metal manufacturing and electroplating. MTEC and its partners reaffirm their commitment to continuously supporting Thai businesses. By helping them overcome challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the Industry 4.0 era, they aim to drive sustainable growth and innovation.
