Department of Climate Change Teams Up with NSTDA to Advance Integrated Tech Solutions for a Low-Carbon Economy

The Department of Climate Change and Environment, led by Mr. Komest Putthasorn, Deputy Director-General, held a strategic meeting with key agencies under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to advance collaborative research and development efforts.

Joining the discussion were Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), NSTDA, Dr. Warintorn Songsiri, Deputy Executive Director of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), NSTDA, along with a team of expert researchers. The meeting aimed to establish a robust framework for integrating scientific and technological expertise to effectively address climate and environmental challenges, and to support the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

The discussion encompassed several strategic areas, including the development of databases and indicators to support the transition to a low-carbon economy, the advancement of Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technologies, and exploring innovative approaches to waste utilization, e-waste management, and value-added processes.

Participants also explored innovations in biochar production and the promotion of bamboo as a high-potential economic crop. Both parties expressed interest in pursuing joint initiatives to foster stakeholder engagement, with the shared goal of achieving integrated and sustainable outcomes.

This meeting represented a pivotal step in strengthening collaboration between government agencies and the research community, united in their commitment to advancing national goals in environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.
