The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), part of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), hosted a seminar titled “Research Funding Opportunities and International Networking.” The event provided a dynamic forum for knowledge exchange and experience-sharing on building joint research proposals with international collaborators. Participants received updates on key collaborative programs supported by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B).
Expert speakers from PMU-B offered practical guidance on aligning proposals with funding agencies’ strategic priorities—equipping attendees with actionable insights to enhance their chances of securing research grants.

Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director of MTEC, delivered the opening remarks. The seminar welcomed expert speakers from PMU-B and drew 47 participants.


The seminar included a featured presentation titled “PMU-B’s Policies and Research Funding Support Mechanisms” delivered by Dr. Rattapoom Toojinda, Deputy Executive Director of PMU-B.
Dr. Rattapoom outlined PMU-B’s strategic role in advancing a highly skilled workforce and pioneering research to sustainably boost Thailand’s global competitiveness. This mission is supported through a diverse portfolio of funding programs aligned with national priority areas. Notable examples include the Industrial Postdoc/Postgrad Fellowship, Upskill/Reskill/Newskill initiatives for industrial workforce development, and grants fostering international collaboration.
He also emphasized PMU-B’s commitment to investing in scientific and technological infrastructure, with the goal of translating research into tangible commercial and societal benefits—creating impact at both national and international levels. To support prospective applicants, Dr. Rattapoom shared insights into the hallmarks of successful proposals that align with PMU-B’s funding priorities, offering practical guidance to improve their chances of securing support.


The seminar also featured a session titled “Guidelines for Writing Project Proposals to Advance Research and Innovation through International Collaboration Networks,” led by Ms. Thanawan Srithong, Director of Strategic Workforce Development; Dr. Sonthaya Chaiarwut, Senior Analyst; and Ms. Nutsupar Noiparsee, Analyst, both from the Global Partnership for Sustainability & Society.
The session focused on sharing practical techniques and firsthand experiences in crafting compelling proposals that align with PMU’s funding criteria, helping applicants strengthen their chances of success.
The speakers also introduced upcoming initiatives under the Global Partnership Program (N49) for 2026, which will support both bilateral and multilateral international collaborations aimed at advancing research and innovation across borders.
