Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani
The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and the Research Administration for National Strategy (RNS) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the Thai–Israel Friendship Foundation (TIFF) and the Economic and Trade Mission of the Embassy of Israel, jointly organized the “Medical Innovation Forum” at the Science Delight Building in Thailand Science Park, Pathum Thani. The forum aimed to foster collaboration between Thailand and Israel in medical technology, digital health, surgical innovation, and biomedical strategies, with a strong emphasis on knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the development of medical solutions to address pressing public health challenges.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), NSTDA, delivered the opening remarks, underscoring MTEC’s pivotal role in advancing medical innovations from research and development through prototyping, validation, and commercial deployment. He also emphasized the center’s efforts to foster a collaborative ecosystem that bridges industry, hospitals, and investors.

At the same event, Mr. Tomer Shpilman, head of Israel’s Economic and Trade Mission to Thailand, emphasized Israel’s pivotal role in strengthening bilateral ties with Thailand, particularly in the areas of food innovation, agriculture, and startup collaboration. Despite its modest geographic size, Israel places a strong focus on exporting innovation globally and continues to expand its international business footprint through more than 55 offices worldwide. A notable example of this collaboration in healthcare is Samitivej Hospital’s integration of digital technologies and telemedicine in partnership with health maintenance organizations (HMOs) to enhance patient care.

On the technology front, Dr. Moris Topaz, Founder and CEO of IVT Medical, presented an innovative approach to treating complex wounds, centered on three key technologies: the TopClosure® Tension Relief System (TRS); RoNPT (Regulated Oxygen and Irrigation Negative Pressure Therapy); and Sitta (Controlled In-situ Targeted Ultra-High Concentration Antibiotic Administration). He explained that the integration of these systems enables more effective wound management and has the potential to transform the conventional three-step treatment model by accelerating inflammation control and facilitating immediate wound closure.

The “Medical Innovation Forum” underscored the enduring friendship between Thailand and Israel, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to sustained collaboration through joint research, academic and professional exchanges, and shared initiatives in science, technology, and innovation. The event served not only as a platform for knowledge and technology exchange but also as a strategic step toward developing long-term, high-impact solutions. These efforts aim to strengthen Thailand’s public health system, integrate cutting-edge technologies, and enhance its capacity to effectively address future health challenges.
On this occasion, Mr. Amarin Khoman, Chairperson of the Thai–Israel Friendship Club Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, graciously delivered the closing remarks and presented commemorative tokens to the event organizers and speakers.
