Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) Thammasat University, Pathum Thani
The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), was represented by Dr. Somboon Otarawanna and Dr. Kiattisak Ngiamsoongnirn from the Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Research Team, Engineering Design and Computational Research Group, who presented their academic work at the 28th International Annual Symposium on Computational Science and Engineering (ANSCSE28), hosted by SIIT at Thammasat University in Pathum Thani.

At ANSCSE28, Dr. Somboon Otarawanna delivered an oral presentation titled “The Role of CFD in the Design of Natural Ventilators,” while Dr. Kiattisak Ngiamsoongnirn of MTEC’s Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Research Team, part of the Engineering Design and Computational Research Group, presented “Design of Building Natural Ventilation with the Assistance of CFD.” Both presentations stem from a commissioned research initiative in collaboration with Metal Building (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which was funded by the Innovation Technology Assistance Program (ITAP) of the NSTDA. The project centers on developing natural-ventilation devices using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to optimize sustainable indoor airflow performance.

Dr. Somboon Otarawanna was also honored to chair the Fluid Dynamics session and took part in the executive committee meeting of the Computational Science and Engineering Association (CSEA), held alongside ANSCSE28. MTEC’s active participation and research presentations at the symposium reflect its ongoing commitment to advancing computational engineering and fostering sustainable, high-impact innovation to support the growth and competitiveness of Thailand’s industrial sector.
