On March 6, 2026, at the MTEC Building within Thailand Science Park, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) welcomed executives and researchers from Diamond Brand Products Public Company Limited. The visit served as a strategic platform to review the progress of ongoing collaborative research and development initiatives.
During the session, the MTEC research team presented updates on key joint projects, including the Material Circularity Indicator (MCI) assessment for construction materials. The discussions also highlighted initiatives applying circular economy principles within the construction sector, specifically focusing on enhancing the value of industrial by-products for reintegration into production processes. These collaborative efforts underscore a shared commitment to advancing sustainable development goals shared by both organizations.
The visit featured an in-depth tour of the X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) laboratory, which showcases advanced 3D imaging technology. This non-destructive analytical tool enables researchers to examine the internal structure of materials at a microscopic scale. By accurately identifying porosity, phase distribution, and hidden defects, the XCT facility plays an essential role in the R&D and quality control of high-performance roofing tiles.
Additionally, the delegation explored an exhibition of eco-friendly innovations derived from industrial waste. This display highlighted MTEC’s expertise in upcycling industrial by-products into premium construction materials—a strategic approach that directly addresses waste reduction and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions. These advancements reflect a critical shift toward sustainability, aligning with the strategic priorities of both Thailand’s public and private sectors.
This visit and consultation marked a significant step toward bolstering the collaboration among MTEC, NSTDA, and Diamond Brand Products Public Company Limited. The partnership aims to leverage science and technology to foster innovation within the construction materials industry, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the Thai industrial sector.
