National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), acting through National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), represented by Dr. Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, Executive Director of MTEC, and Royal Thai Navy, acting through Royal Thai Naval Dockyard, represented by RADM Ekasit Rawdyoo, Deputy Director General, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen, promote and enhance academic and research cooperation in Materials Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, and other areas of Technologies mutually identified and agreed by both Parties for 5 years, 2020-2025. A promotion of technology transfer, technical consultation on engineering design and testing, as well as technical assessment would be embraced to the joint research and innovative activities between NSTDA and Royal Thai Navy.

The MOU between NSTDA and Royal Thai Navy had been initiated from the background of a very close partnership between MTEC and Royal Thai Naval Dockyard since 2007 through a series of joint projects in various fields e.g. Alternative Energy, Rubber Technology, Forging and Corrosion Technology. The recent MOU between NSTDA and Royal Thai Navy would signify a closer academic and research ties between the two organizations, especially to support a continuity of a partnership between MTEC and Royal Thai Naval Dockyard in order to join force between the research teams and bridge the innovations to the utilizations required by the Thai Navy.
