MTEC and its operation during the COVID-19 pandemic situation

MTEC had created a set of measures and practices for surveillance and prevention of the COVID-19 to adapt the working methods to suit the situation. These efforts include working from home meeting via online applications and changing the document filing forms in procurement, disbursement, and official documents by using electronic signatures, as well as setting work goals for delivering work results within the committed time.

Relationship enhancement activities

These activities aimed to create healthy relationship between all employees, thus encouraging the collaboration.

  • 5S activity with a new normal style

The activity was held on June 8-12, 2020, and aimed at creating a good working environment and awareness for employees to do the cleaning at every place, such as their offices, laboratories, and accommodation.

  • MTEC Director Talk 2020

The event was held on July 16, 2020, and aimed at creating understanding among employees and update the important situations in the organization. According to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the number of attendees had been limited; however, there was also an online channel via YouTube provided for those who were interested.

MTEC and social benefits

  • Dr. Korkiat Sedchaicharn, Senior Researcher of Design and Industry Solutions Research Team, Engineering Design and Computation Research Group, and his team had cooperated with BOON ENGINEERING Company Limited to develop a prototype of the Remote-Controlled Cart for the safety of the medical staff and patients, and deliver to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration General Hospital on April 21, 2020, and Prasat Neurological Institute on May 1, 2020.
  • The Personalized Devices Research Team, Biofunctional Materials and Devices Research Group had collaborated with the Modern Rail and Transportation Technology Research Center and Thai Machine Products Company Limited to produce Face Shields made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is a lightweight medical material, produced by Water Jet Cutting process. The Face Shields had been delivered to 14 hospitals on April 27, 2020.
  • MTEC had received Surgical Facemasks from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) by Dongguan Tailing Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd, China, to support and prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 29, 2020, the 20,000 Surgical Facemasks had been donated and delivered to medical staff for 6 hospitals, namely, Pranangklao Hospital, Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, Songklanagarind Hospital, Thammasat University Hospital, Khon Kaen Hospital, and Yasothon Hospital.

Hosting visitors

  • On February 25, 2020, The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, President of NSTDA, together with the executives and researchers had organized research exhibition to present the research results, namely, Magik Growth, Greenhouse film, BeThEPS, Insect glue from Para TRAP, and Dairy Mats to welcome Mr. Apirom Sukprasert, President of Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, and his entourage.
  • On August 5, 2020, Dr. Pairote Jittham, Principle Researcher, and the researchers of Innovative Rubber Manufacturing Research Group, together with Dr. Buncha Thanaboonsombut, Division Director of Technology Public Relation Division, had presented the research results of natural rubber to welcome International Rubber Parts Company Limited.
  • On August 5, 2020, Dr. Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, Executive Director of MTEC, and the researchers had welcomed Ms. Parnbua Boonparn, Managing Director of Matichon Public Co., Ltd, and the media and organized a research exhibition to present the research results divided into 4 categories, namely, Research to address the BCG Model, Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education, Research and Development of Automatic Control System, and Medical Instruments Research.
