The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), a research institute under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) within the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, in conjunction with the Thai Corrosion of Metals and Materials Association, and CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., organized the 4th Thailand Corrosion and Prevention Conference (TCPC2023). The conference took place at the Amari Pattaya Hotel in Chonburi province from November 8 to 10, 2023.
Professor Dr. Gobboon Lothongkum, President of the Thai Corrosion of Metals and Materials Association, and a lecturer in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and Dr. Ekkarut Viyanit, Director of the Rail and Modern Transports Research Group, MTEC, jointly officiated the opening ceremony of the conference. As a token of appreciation for their unwavering support, all 12 supporting organizations were presented with plaques during the ceremony. At the evening reception, Associate Professor Dr. Toemsak Srikhirin, Director of MTEC and co-chair of the conference delivered the welcoming remarks. Gathering an esteemed panel of 36 invited speakers, TCPC2023 showcases groundbreaking research in corrosion technology and prevention, with a focus on construction infrastructure, process industry, and transportation industry applications. Welcoming 155 participants from 12 countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand, the conference fosters a vibrant exchange of ideas and expertise.
To further enrich the conference experience, participants embarked on an insightful visit to the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi) in Wang Chan District, Rayong Province. Participants delve into the heart of innovation during a comprehensive tour of the Sustainable Manufacturing Center (SMC), smart buildings and the greenhouse & plant factory, gaining firsthand insights into the region’s cutting-edge advancements. Participants gained valuable insights into the groundbreaking work of the Machines and Power Conversions Research Team and were captivated by the architectural marvels of the main buildings.
