Dr. Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, Executive Director of National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University presided over the opening ceremony for The 11th Robot Design Contest 2018 under the concept of Robot for Smart Manufacturing. Dr. Kajornchaiyakul and Assoc. Prof. Teachavorasinskun were pictured with executives from Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL, and Pantip Plaza at Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building, Chulalongkorn University. Sixty eight candidates from twenty six universities were also invited to the stage.

The purpose of this project is to seek for the greatest inventors, who will be representatives from Thailand to participate in the 29th edition of RoboCon International Design Contest (IDC) 2018 to be held in Tokyo, Japan. In addition, this is an important mechanism to develop young people, who are capable in robotics and automation, and to help propel Thailand to the next stage of development. This event also creates a community that can provide knowledge exchange and further strengthen unity among the students. This event was held at 1st floor of Pantip Pratunam, Bangkok.
